Literature Text

If you ain’t got love
By your twenties,
More likely
You’re gonna be alone,
At least that’s what
Our little southern town
Always taught us.

The same pain
In every lonely heart
We stick to each other,
So we don’t fall apart.

Round and round,
And round, we go.
How this stops,
Nobody knows.
We only know
It’s not slowing down.
Always stuck
On this merry go round.

Never together,
Never apart,
Difficult to stop,
What you didn’t start.

Not the first
To turn my head,
You’re the one
That stays there instead.
One guy, two guys
Three guys, four.
Any feelings for one
Stop
Before they start
The moment you walk
Through the door.

Round and Round,
And round, we go.
When this stops
Is the answer
We all want to know.
When can we let go?
The answer’s never clear,
So on and on, we go
Forever stuck together
On this merry go round.

Too old to know better,
Too young to care
All of us fools
Pretending to love.
All for different reasons,
I just don’t wanna be alone.

You’re hardly wrong,
I’m always right.
It’s really no wonder
Why we always fight.
Fear of being alone,
Keeps you always
In my sight.

Round and round,
And round, we go.
Where we’ll stop,
No one
Ever seems to know.
The two of us
Stuck
On this never ending
Merry go round.
Inspired by the song Merry Go Round by Kacey Musgraves. Assignment for a course. I think it turned out alright. I just hope my professor likes it. Hard to say with him.

I really like it. I think this feeling is pretty universal. :) It reads like a song too, which is sometimes hard to achieve.
